The Fitness Centre at Phyllis Court in Henley-on-Thames was officially opened on Monday 24th September – almost 90 years after its founder, Roy Finlay, dreamt of introducing a swimming pool to the club.
Clarkson Alliance provided Project and Cost Management services on the new leisure facility, which includes:
- 20 metre swimming pool
- Fully equipped gym
- Exercise studio
- Sanarium
- Treatment rooms
The newly opened Fitness Centre, which overlooks the River Thames, has been designed to sit within the natural landscape, with consideration given to the choice of materials and colour scheme.
Phyllis Court Chairman, Barry Jackson, says: “The opening of this building is the result of many years of hard work and planning and is a tribute to our Members and Club Management. Many were involved in the original business plans and feasibility studies and others have been involved throughout the construction phase. I am especially pleased that working closely with our Contractors, Total Construction, we completed on time and on budget.”
Neil Wood, Project Manager at Clarkson Alliance, said of the new Fitness Centre:
“Clarkson Alliance is delighted to have successfully delivered another high quality leisure facility on time and on budget. We are pleased to see that membership levels at the club have reached a peak in recent weeks and a waiting list is now in operation – one of the stated project outcomes at the outset.”
