Clarkson Alliance is delighted to be working with Open Hand Open Space (OHOS) on the ‘Brock Keep: A Roof with a View’ project in Reading. The project has received development funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop conservation plans for Brock Keep –  a grade II listed 19th century keep situated next to the original army depot. It is a rare example of a keep which has not be demolished or converted, with well-preserved original features.

The development phase has now begun and Clarkson Alliance will be providing support to OHOS as they prepare their Phase 2 application which, if successful would enable the restoration of the keep’s roof, turrets and battlements, a rooftop boardwalk and cafe, restoration of the ground floor verandah, and an exciting programme of heritage activities for visitors of all ages.

OHOS Chair Ingrid Jensen said “We are overjoyed to receive this support thanks to National Lottery Players. It paves the way for Brock Keep to have a secure future as West Reading Arts and Heritage Centre for the next 30 years.”
