Powys Leisure Centre Investment Programme

Powys Leisure Centres – Powys The leisure provision in Powys is receiving a £1.9million boost thanks to a partnership forged between Powys County Council and Freedom Leisure. Freedom Leisure, a not-for-profit leisure trust, develops crucial partnerships with Local Authorities to raise the standard of leisure service delivery and increase participation.   Clarkson Alliance has formed a dynamic relationship with Freedom Leisure over the past 5 years having supported them on multiple leisure proposals and collaborated on several capital schemes.  Our joint efforts have been successful in delivering a number of Local Authorities leisure management contracts secured by Freedom Leisure.  We are partnering with Freedom Leisure once again to deliver design, project and cost management  services. Three leisure centres in Powys will be upgraded – Rhayader Leisure Centre, Flash Leisure Centre and Brecon Leisure Centre will see changes broadening their appeal and improving accessibility for customers. Freedom Leisure has been able to rely on Clarkson Alliance’s expertise in leisure over the years.  By clarifying objectives at the beginning of the project and delivering exactly on that vision, we have solidified our relationship.  Our strategic input has been evidenced with increases in participation post  project completion, attesting to our ability to ensure certainty of outcome. £750,000 is being spent to develop Flash Leisure Centre in Welshpool which will see big changes.  A new gym incorporates a dedicated functional training area.  A new combined reception and café island offers a more efficient and accessible area to greet visitors and meet others. A new spin studio will be created and a new group exercise studio will take the place of the former gym. ...

Islington Tennis Centre, Islington

Islington Tennis Centre – Islington When London Borough of Islington sought a partner to operate their leisure centres, it was important to choose an organisation sharing their commitment of continual advancement and inclusivity. When GLL approached the Local Authority with plans to transform their centres supported by proposals from Clarkson Alliance, a strategic partnership was formed.   As one of the UK’s leading charitable social enterprises, GLL operates 215 leisure centres in the UK.  They successfully beat the competition to win the Islington contract with proposals that included capital improvement designs by Clarkson Alliance.  The plans included energy savings by our sister company, Leisure Energy. Both London Borough of Islington and GLL had ambitions to improve current participation in health and fitness, an area in which Clarkson Alliance excel. Islington Tennis Centre is the third leisure centre being revamped in the area as part of the revitalisation programme across five facilities since GLL took over.  Each centre is being project and cost managed by Clarkson Alliance, who are also providing principal designer services. The £950,000 project at Islington Tennis Centre focuses on providing improved quality and access for visitors.  Enhanced wellness is encouraged through a brand new health suite. A new studio provides greater flexibility for classes and an extended gym enables more visitors to use the facilities.  A new training room provides dedicated space for the development of staff and customers and new offices will also be created. The construction programme is phased to enable the improvements to be carried out whilst the centre remains operational. Users will experience less disruption as a result.
