Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire

New Pro Shop, Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire Frilford Heath Golf Club is one of the best golf venues in the South of England and offers three championship golf courses. Clarkson Alliance was appointed by the club to provide Cost Management services. Situated between the car park and the main club house, the pro shop was constructed using cedar and cotswold stone to fit into the local context of the site. The performance centre offers visitors the opportunity to practise and play on some of the world’s leading courses with the help of an innovative golf simulator. BIM coordination was used by the design team to develop the proposals. This allowed an offsite manufacture solution for the superstructure to be selected for the unique design. The cross laminated timber superstructure was assembled in two and a half weeks and provided the finished surface for the shop ceiling and terrace canopy. The completed building is a high quality facility that will serve the club well into the future. Services provided Clarkson Alliance provided Cost Management services. Enabling works were completed on time in August 2017 and main construction of the leisure centre began in September 2017. The completed centre is expected to open in April 2019. The project will be delivered using Building Information Modelling (BIM) level 2 which will offer 3D visualisation of the proposed building and post contract operation and maintenance benefits for the client. Meadow Road, Worthing

Meadow Road, Worthing When Clarkson Alliance was awarded a grant from Innovate UK in recognition of our efforts to integrate the latest technology into projects and properly research the tangible benefits of BIM, we partnered with social housing provider Worthing Homes on a £1.4 million design and build scheme for 12 flats in three blocks. Our objective was to conduct research that articulated the changes in process and behaviours that construction teams need to adapt to when working in a BIM environment. From experience, we know that the biggest challenge is not the tools and processes but the collaboration amongst individuals that is required to make it successful. The tendering process and integrated design was completed via a federated BIM model, run on our technology partner’s (Clearbox) central digital information “middleware” platform BIMXtra. The results of the research will be published, however an interim report is available which captured the project midway through the process. The project is also part of the Constructing Excellence Innovation in Practice series.
