Cally Pool & Gym in Islington is the first of five centres benefitting from leisure investment from London Borough of Islington in partnership with leisure operator and charitable social enterprise, GLL.

Clarkson Alliance has been chosen to provide design, project management, cost management and principal designer services for the £6.2million investment into the borough’s leisure facilities. Clarkson Alliance has a track record of delivering high quality capital improvement projects in leisure.  We work in partnership with Local Authorities and charitable social enterprises to design and manage projects that deliver our customer’s project objectives.

The purpose of the Cally Pool & Gym project is to raise the standards of the facilities offering more attractive and varied leisure options to occupants of Islington.

The £100k refurbishment at Cally Pool & Gym has been used to develop a newly enlarged gym overlooking the pool and new reception area. Leisure Energy, a sister company to Clarkson Alliance has provided energy saving initiatives by upgrading the lighting and water controls to provide notable savings.

We worked with London Borough of Islington and GLL to keep centres operational during the project.  This reduces customer inconvenience and the likelihood of loss of customers during renovation.

The refurbishment was completed shortly after GLL took over the operation of the leisure centres in the area, demonstrating immediate commitment to improving the leisure facilities.  The other centres to benefit from the regeneration include Archway Leisure Centre, Sobell Leisure Centre, Islington Tennis Centre and Highbury Pool and Gym.

Clarkson Alliance has a history of designing and managing leisure projects that drive up participation which has been a great partnership with GLL’s specialist knowledge as one of the largest charitable social enterprises and leisure operators in the country. The project was delivered on time and within budget, providing facilities of a high standard for Islington’s residents.
