Rose Hill Community Centre held its official topping out ceremony onsite in Oxford on Friday 19th June.

Traditionally a topping out ceremony is held when the final beam is placed on a roof during construction. As the £3million new build centre has a less conventional flat roof, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford Councillor Colin Cook fastened the final screw into the roofs solar panels to mark the occasion.

High levels of stakeholder engagement have been central to this project, including a community referendum enabling residents to opt for the solution most beneficial to the neighbourhood. Continuing this community involvement, the topping out ceremony was followed by the Energise Rose Hill free event for families which included face painting, tug of war and other fun activities.

The project has utilised BIM as part of the design process. By modelling the design digitally stakeholders were able to vastly improve their comprehension of the building.

The project is due for completion at the end of 2015.
