Braywick Leisure Centre plans submitted

This week, the planning application for Braywick Leisure Centre was formally validated by the council’s planning department, representing an important step forward for the project’s progress.  Clarkson Alliance are providing Development, Project and Cost Management Services on the project. It contains full details of the proposed £32 million facility which the council is building to provide residents with a community space to enjoy sport, art and cultural events for years to come. Cllr Samantha Rayner, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “This is a great milestone on the journey towards opening Braywick Leisure Centre as a venue for all. Building a borough for everyone means providing residents with all the infrastructure and facilities they will need and investing in this state-of-the-art leisure centre is an important part of our wider strategy to match the emerging Borough Local Plan.” The centre is due to open to users by December 2019, pending planning permission. Opening of Wrexham Waterworld

On 27 October, Wrexham Waterworld Activity and Leisure Centre was officially reopened following significant refurbishment work. Clarkson Alliance provided design, project and cost management services on the project which has greatly improved the leisure facilities for the local community. The renovation project included: an improved gym area with new equipment; a new reception and cafe area; refurbishment of the changing rooms and a new cycling studio. The project received funding from the Welsh government, which supports the improvement in facilities to help people of all abilities, ages and backgrounds to participate and enjoy sport. The centre was officially reopened by the Mayor of Wrexham, Welsh Assembly Members and councillors along with directors from Freedom Leisure. Andy Harris, Freedom Leisure Area Manager, said:  “We are extremely proud of the new facilities, especially as the cycling studio and gym are now able to rival the best private gyms! Most importantly, users have already reported to us how happy they are with the enhanced facilities and offerings – which is excellent”....

Work begins to revitalise Caledonian Clock Tower

Islington councillors visited the Clock Tower in Caledonian Park on 18 October to officially mark the start of construction works on site. Work has now begun on the project to revitalise Caledonian Park and secure the future of the Grade II* listed Caledonian Clock Tower,  which has received almost £2 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).  Clarkson Alliance are Project Managers on the project, and bring extensive experience of delivering heritage projects on time and on budget and also of working with the HLF.  Work is being carried out by construction company Lengard, and is due to be completed in summer 2018. Cllr Claudia Webbe, the council’s executive member for environment and transport, said: “It’s fantastic that work has begun on this exciting project, which offers a brilliant opportunity to celebrate our history, and bring that history alive.” You can read more about the planned renovations on the Project page....
