BIM Regions – Oxford is back with a new event on Thursday 16th March which centres around processes in Building Information Modelling (BIM). BIM is a digital replication of an as-built asset, such as a building, within a computerised virtual environment complete with architectural, structural, and services design information. The interest surrounding BIM has intensified as the UK grows closer to the Government’s April 2016 BIM deadline.

After this date, all centrally procured Government projects are to be constructed using Level 2 BIM. Level 2 BIM enables different disciplines to add their asset information into separate BIM programme’s which are then coordinated. The Government demonstrated its commitment to BIM at the end of February 2016 when it published the Digital Built Britain – Level 3 strategy. Level 3 BIM is the next phase where all parties working on a project input into a single digital model.

The BIM Regions – Oxford event starts at 5.30pm and takes place at Oxford Brookes University. It includes talks from two guest speakers, Jason Whittall of One Creative Environments, an RICS Certified BIM Manager and Steve Rudge from Excitech, who will be demonstrating BIM “Field Software.” The event will be facilitated by Dan Bland of Clarkson Alliance and members of the committee from Oxford Brookes University and Bouygues.

This is the first of 4 events planned by BIM Regions – Oxford for 2016. The events focus on People, Technology and the Legal aspects of BIM. Since rebranding from Oxford BIM Hub, the networking group has increased its committee members to include a greater breadth of organisations including Dan Bland and Po Yung from Clarkson Alliance.

Clarkson Alliance believes strongly that BIM will help achieve certainty of outcome for our clients through a more controlled, efficient and cost effective build process. We are aligning our services around BIM in project and cost management for both public and private sector clients to ease their transition into BIM. Our core priority is to deliver projects on time and budget for our clients and we believe BIM is a valuable tool to achieving these goals consistently.

The March event already has over 80 attendees registered. For the full programme and to register, visit BIM Regions – Oxford Eventbrite page https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bim-process-tickets-21203791110
